The Minnesota City/County Management Association (MCMA) Mentorship Program connects experienced local government leaders with emerging professionals to foster growth, share knowledge, and strengthen the profession across Minnesota.

How the Program Works

  1. Submit Your Application - Complete a short online form indicating your interests, experience, and goals. Email to mhagenau@lmc.org. Applications are due June 19. 
  2. Thoughtful Matching - Participants are paired based on professional background, interests, and development goals.
  3. Program Kickoff - Attend the program kickoff to connect with your mentee/mentor!
  4. Ongoing Engagement - Mentor-mentee pairs meet regularly (recommended monthly) to discuss goals, challenges, and professional growth.
  5. Wrap-Up & Reflection - Participants evaluate their experience and celebrate progress at the end of the program.


Important Dates

  • June 19 - applications are due
  • Late July/Early August - pairings sent out
  • August 25 - kick-off meeting at LMC
